Service Learning in the Library: Read to Feed!

Students at WBS have the opportunity to participate in the 5th annual Read to Feed Project, which is connected to Heifer International. Students have sought out sponsors who will pay them to read books during the month of May in order to raise money to buy livestock for needy children around the world.

This year, rather than setting a school goal, which has been to raise more money than the prior year, the goal is for students to set their own personal goal.
For Example:
A goal might be to raise enough money to purchase a flock of chickens, which costs $20.
Trio of rabbits: $60
Bee hive: $30
Goat: $120
Or a combination of animals like a flock of chickens and a bee hive for $50.
THERE"S NO LIMIT!

This project gives each student the opportunity to make a difference in the world.
Together we raised $2,040 last year! The idea of having students set their own individual goal is to help foster motivation to reach a goal centered around a personal choice, making it even more meaningful to them.

So far, 47 students have signed up...Happy Reading & Good Luck!

Deadline: May 29th.
