Welcome November!

Hello everyone! The Maine Chickadee book award program for grades K-3 has been kicked off...we have read 2 of the 10 nominated books so far: King for a Day, byRukhsana Khan and Foxy, by Jessica Souhami. Come check out our new bulletin board display for a sneak peak at the other 8.

The Maine Student Book Award program for grades 4 & 5 is off to a great start...many students are participating and are chipping away at the 40 nominated books on the list! Many of last year's participants, as well as newcomers, are already looking forward to the RSU1 Battle of the Books Competition held in the spring where we will send teams of students to compete in 2 rounds of Questions & Answers about these 40 books. West Bath School placed first last year...I'm sure it will be a battle to hold on because lots of students are reading and preparing for this super-fun, book club competition. The best part is getting to read these AWESOME books!

To celebrate Veteran's Day, we have some military service books on display so come and browse these non-fiction selections!

I'll be displaying many Thanksgiving holiday books next week so stay tuned for those.

THIS WEEK is Book Fair week! All students have been shown the sneak peak author video put out by Scholastic. Each class will have an opportunity to browse the book fair prior to parent conferences to create a wish list, so be sure to stop by the fair after your conference if you want to purchase any books.

Enjoy this wonderful month...lots to be thankful for!
