March 5th: WRAD (World Read Aloud Day)

West Bath School participated in World Read Aloud Day...this was our 3rd year!

We all gathered in the gym for a whole-school read aloud. The theme once again was 'bubble gum'. The book I read was Pop! The Invention of Bubble Gum by Meghan McCarthy. It's a non-fiction account of how in the late 1920's, Walter Diemer invented America's first bubble gum...he named it Dubble Bubble. The book highlights how Walter failed a few times, but because he persevered, he finally succeeded. So remember, when faced with a challenge, never give up!

We ended our reading celebration by having some Dubble Bubble gum. It was nice to hear all the lip smacking sounds of the entire student body and staff chewing and blowing bubbles. It was fun to see who could blow the biggest bubble!

Until next year,
Mrs. D in the Library :)
